Thousands of music fans say rock track is ‘best song ever’ | Music | Entertainment

Music lovers from across the world have come together to share what they believe is the best song in history.

There were plenty of songs to choose from – but a viral post to X has seen many consider a rock and roll track to be the best music can offer.

All-time greats were pushed to the side for one in particular, which has captured people’s attention. And it’s a Bruce Springsteen hit that thousands of people have dubbed the “best song ever.”

The original post had suggested Scissor Sisters’ ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancing’ was the best in class, but this was quickly rejected in favour of a song featuring on the hit album, Born to Run.

The Springsteen album has more than a few classics on it, but listeners believe Thunder Road is not just the best from his 1975 release, but the best in history.

The original post reads: “Enough about the worst songs erver. Let’s talk about the best song ever. For instance, ‘I Dont’ Feel Like Dancing’ by Scissor Sisters.”

A quote of this post reads:” Thunder Road has entered the conversation.” Listeners were quick to agree with the assessment of Thunder Road as the greatest song of all time.

One user replied: “This gives me chills because I remember the shows when he performed this and it takes me right back there. Unless you were there, it’s hard to understand how good his concerts were.”

Another agreed, adding: “All things considered this has to be the singularly best Springsteen song but there are certainly arguments that can be made for Jungleland, Born to Run, Badlands, The River, The Promised Land or maybe even Rosalia.”

A third agreed, writing: “No doubt.” Not everyone agreed, though many consider it an all-time great.

One fumed: “Oh please…” Another joked: “Not even the best Bruce song with ‘Thunder’ in the name.” A third added: “It’s up there, but for me there’s better in his catalogue.”

Some were even suggesting alternate songs, with one citing Bob Dylan’s Tangled Up in Blue as the real best-ever track. Another user asked: “What do you know about The Weight by The Band?”

A third has suggested Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain is the best song in history. They wrote: “The thing about listening to music is you keep thinking ‘maybe one day I’ll find a song better than The Chain’ but you never find any songs better than The Chain.”

There was a wide variety of other artists suggested by the public, including Lou Reed, The Beatles, and Black Coutnry, New Road. Meanwhile, another viral tweet suggested The Beach Boys’ God Only Knows is the best song of all time.
