‘Forgotten’ comedy with incredible A-list Hollywood cast on Channel 4 | Films | Entertainment

There’s nothing better than sitting down on a Saturday night, with a drink in hand and a bag of popcorn at your side,  ready for a barrel of laughs for a fun comedy film.

Tonight, Channel 4 has you covered as it plays an often-forgotten comedy classic with an A-list lined cast including legends such as Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman.

While Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler seemed to dominate 00s comedy films, Ben Stiller was also producing some all-time classics, full of laughs that hold up better than ever to this day. For viewers who aren’t ones for the endless scrolling of Netflix and Amazon Prime, terrestrial TV will be playing the hilarious Meet The Fockers.

Airing on TV from 10.30pm for the following two hours, the film is the sequel to the 2000 hit Meet The Parents. In the 2004 film, the plot follows Greg Focker after he invites his fiance Pam’s family (the core of the first film) over to his slightly bizarre and eccentric parents’ house.

Jack, the soon-to-be father-in-law, played by Robert De Niro, is still deeply suspicious of Greg and tries to uncover more about him while his old school views clash with his lawyer-turned-stay-at-home-dad played by Dustin Hoffman and a sex therapist mum played by Barbara Streisand.

What follows is two hours of comedic chaos with each situation getting more far fetched.

The original film was a hit with critics although the sequel wasn’t as well received. Despite its meagre scores, it is a perfectly fun film filled with laughs that still resonates with audiences.

The film is still rated a solid 4.1 stars out of 5 on Google Reviews with plenty of viewers happy to watch.

One viewer who rated the film four out of five wrote: “Meet the Fockers is a hilarious and light-hearted comedy that takes the audience on a wild and uproarious journey filled with awkward encounters, cultural clashes, and outrageous situations.”

While another believed the critics were perhaps too harsh, posting: ” No No the reviews are too low! Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman were a class act.

“If you’ve seen Meet the Parents and not this one, don’t let the reviews put you off as you’d be missing out on some quality screenplay and acting. Some of the scenes between Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller are brilliantly funny.”
