These days, dentists generally recommend using an electric toothbrush over manual brushing, mainly because it’s easier to get a good clean. But some of the highest-rated electric brushes can come with a hefty price tag. Such is the case for the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean, which has a 4.2 out of a possible five-star rating from shoppers on Amazon but also retails for over £300 full price.
This week, however, Amazon kicked off its inaugural Everyday Essentials Sale, which has discounted a selection of household essentials that, as the name suggests, you’re likely to use every day. And among them is the Philips Sonicare 9,000 DiamondClean toothbrush, slashed by 53%. As part of the deal, you can currently get the toothbrush for £149.99 – a steal when you consider its usual price tag of £319.99.
The toothbrush comes in two colours: a soft pink and white model and a black and blue model. Each toothbrush also comes with a travel case to protect it while on the go, a charging port, and three additional brush heads to get you started.
There’s also a slightly cheaper version of the toothbrush, on sale for £134.99 (down from £299.99), although this set doesn’t come with additional brush heads.
There are also four cleaning modes: Clean, Deep Clean, Gum Health and White.
Perhaps one of the most unique features of the Philips toothbrush, though, is its use of AI which the the brand claims can give real-time feedback via a dedicated app. It’s a bit techy (and might also be part of the reason why this toothbrush is so expensive), but plenty of customers say it works for them. One review on Amazon said: “I never used to like electric toothbrushes…But this one, I was pleasantly surprised.
“The vibration is limited to the head of the brush so your hand isn’t vibrating like crazy try to keep your grip. You can change the level of intensity too. The bristles on the brush are so so soft but still manage an amazing clean! My teeth have never felt so clean and yet with such gentle cleaning!”
A second customer wrote: “Well, I wish I’d bought this years ago! After a trip to the dentist a few months ago, she recommended this toothbrush. [It’s] pricey but SO SO worth it! I didn’t realise just how much more effective it would be cleaning my teeth compared to my non-electric brush! Not only are my teeth whiter now, but they also feel so much cleaner!”
Generally, most of the negative reviews come from the high price tag, which is why the current discount is so lucrative. Some other shoppers did note that they had some problems with battery life, too. “Despite charging it fully, it only lasts a fraction of the time that my previous toothbrush did, leaving me without a functional toothbrush in the middle of my morning routine,” said one shopper. “This is a major inconvenience and has caused me to have to constantly interrupt my brushing to recharge the device.”
As is the case with Amazon sales, though, prices aren’t guaranteed to stay the same (items can change in price due to popularity or even sell out). The Everyday Essentials sale also has a limited-time period, coming to an end on May 27, 2025.
