A fashion lover has stunned social media users after revealing the “best moving hack” for clothes. One viewer was so impressed they said they were left feeling “so dumb” after watching the video, presumably because they couldn’t believe they’d never thought of it before.
TikTok user @sydneyycannonnn shared the “genius” tip. In her popular video, Sydney told viewers she had discovered “the best moving hack for those with a shopping addiction.” She added that the method “literally changed my life.”
As seen in Sydney’s video, she saved time during her packing by leaving her clothes in her wardrobe and covering them with bin bags, rather than folding them away into boxes or bags.
By doing this, and grouping several hangers together inside the bags, she’d only need to make a few trips to carry all her items; the bags could protect her clothes in transit; and she wouldn’t need to hang everything back up on the other side.
Praising the tip, someone wrote: “No but this is genius.” A fan added: “Wait I’m about to do this now.” A different viewer praised: “This is amazing actually,” while another shared: “I feel so dumb.”
It’s far from the only viral moving hack on TikTok, where social media users often share tips for everything from packing your bags to the day of the move.
In another video, TikTok user @gemmalomasjones told followers: “YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS HACK! Moving house or just storing things the IKEA Dimpa are your guys!”
In the video, the blogger showcased how her family used the bags to simplify their move, packing a range of items into the bags for easy transport. For her part, she used the bags to transport clothes, linen, duvet, shoes, soft toys, coats, board games, towels, Christmas decorations, electronics, and cushions.
The blogger praised the “reusable” bags, which retail for £3 from Ikea. She loved that they are “easy to carry and lift” and “you can see what’s inside.”
One impressed viewer replied: “This is soooo smart.” A second comment said: “We literally packed our entire house up with these!! Best ever!!” A third shared: “I did this too with the exact same bags. Super sturdy and fits a lot!”
Someone else wrote: “I was moving every year for about a decade. I told myself I was going to IKEA for the meatballs but it was definitely for those bags,” and someone else replied: “This is exactly what I did when I moved. Makes it so much easier.”
A shopper with a similar idea wrote: “Going have to invest in these when I move later this year. I was going use those beauty store plaid laundry bags.” More praise read: “So much better than boxes. you can reuse these and see through them.”
