A home decor lover has come up with the ultimate trick to stop your nosy neighbours peeking through your windows this summer – and it will cost you less than £10.
As the weather starts warming up, many of us will be spending more time outdoors. But, this also means that your neighbours may peak at your home or garden and see what you are up to.
One woman named Natalie Jade Reading, who lives on a ground floor flat, shares a communal garden with other residents in her building. She admits that this means there is not a lot of privacy as she has large bay windows.
The DIY lover, who shares her home improvement tips and bold interior decor on social media, has come up with “the easiest” trick to make your windows look beautiful, plus stop nosy neighbours.
“Wish I’d done it sooner,” Natalie confessed.
Showing off her large window, Natalie said: “My bay windows are one of my favourite things about my flat but big windows means not a lot of privacy – my bedroom windows face a communal courtyard and I know my neighbours will start sitting outside soon [so] I figured it was time to give myself a little bit more privacy.”
Natalie, who shared the trick on her TikTok page @nataliejadereading, added: “I picked up this film on Amazon and honestly it was so easy to install – I just sprayed the windows with some water, stuck the film on and then used the squeegee to remove the excess water.”
Natalie used a privacy self-adhesive film which she dubbed as “private, cute and perfect”. Showing off her gorgeous window, Natalie praised: “She is so pretty when the sun is shining – I’m getting this lovely little rainbow effect across my room.”
Plus, when the sun shines on the film, it has a beautiful rainbow effect – which matches perfectly with Natalie’s home which is filled with bold colours, unique furniture and disco balls.
One individual who has also used the film, commented: “I have that exact film, it’s beautiful and looks soooo good and lasts years.” Another agreed and said: “Wonderful purchase! I’ve had a similar one for years and the inside of the apartment looks magical in the summer.”
One other who has tried the trick, shared: “I just moved into a ground floor flat and put the same foil on the windows just with a more subtle pattern and the rainbow makes me so happy.”
“I have the exact same thing in my room and it’s amazing,” added another. “I have this film and the rainbows are gorgeous,” another who approves of the film said.
Another added: “Love how it looks. I think I’ll try this, too. My daughter wants to transform her balcony in her art studio but we have nosey neighbours. Thanks!”
The film can be purchased from Amazon for £7. Similar options are also available if you type in ‘rainbow window film’.
