Humid weather is predicted this weekend, but few people in the UK have air conditioning. Instead, many rely on flinging the window open or panicking and buying a fan once a heatwave has already hit.
It might be worth getting organised this year by investing in a fan now, ahead of the stickiest of summer weather. Amazon has the 4.6 starred Pro Breeze® Silent Bladeless Portable Tower Fan for sale for £134.99.
It’s portable, so it can be moved from room to room depending on where the heat is most unbearable. It would be particularly handy in the bedroom to help cool down when trying to get to sleep, but shoppers have also flagged that it’s quiet enough to have on while watching TV. It also has six speed settings so can be adjusted depending on how sweltering it gets.
For an alternative, shoppers could try the Bush Bladeless 2-in-1 Fan and Air Purifier – Black & White from Argos, which is £120. It purifies the air as well as cooling it down, in a nifty double-whammy.
Currys is selling the DYSON Cool™ Tower Fan but it is pricier, costing £269.99. However, it’s an eco-friendly bit of kit and is also easy to clean.
One customer said of the Pro Breeze fan: “This is the second one I have purchased. I liked the grey one I bought for my living room so much, I bought this white one for my bedroom. On the low speed, which is very good, you can hear very little noise. (I have great hearing.) And it did not affect the volume of my TV which is not up very loud to begin with.”
A second said: “I love this fan so much, I purchased a second one for my bedroom. I got the first one last summer for the living room, and I was really impressed, in the past I have used the fans that have a blade which were ok but not very good at keeping me cool, when the third one stopped working I looked into these types of fans, I researched all of them on Amazon and read reviews and decided on this one and can honestly say I am over the moon with it.”
However, one said they have found it loud: “As a fan this is great, easily as cooling as a Dyson or bigger more expensive brand, even on low settings you can feel it. The instructions are easy to follow, the remote is easy to use. It’s a little chunky not massively but there’s definitely more streamlined versions out there. It’s not deafeningly loud but you can hear it as it’s not silent either, I do think it’s a great fan for the money though, I would definitely buy again.”
Another said: “Remote is a bit rubbish as has to be in a specific position to get signal across, which is particularly difficult while the fan oscillates, other than that the fan is top notch.” A happier customer added: “An excellent unit, it was very quiet in the bedroom whilst delivering a very good breeze.”
