Dozens of action and crime thrillers are released every year, and some, despite having great acting performances and intringuing narratives, slip under the radar.
Legacy was released in 2020 as an action-packed thriller featuring a gripping storyline, and it’s considered by some to be a fresh take on the crime genre.
The film centres on British Intelligence Agent Gray, played by Luke Goss (Blade II, One Night With The King), who is on a mission to dismantle a formidable drug cartel led by the notorious Boranovic, played by Elya Baskin.
After successfully incarcerating Boranovic for crimes against humanity, Gray’s mission takes a perilous turn.
To ensure the charges against Boranovic hold, Gray needs the testimony of a surviving victim and her son, Jake. Complicating matters, Boranovic hires a ruthless hitman, Z (Roberto Sanchez), to eliminate Jake, who is on a hunting trip with his adopted family. Gray must intervene to protect Jake and his family from impending danger.
The film has garnered attention for its blend of action and drama – as one fan noted, writing in a reviewing platform: “Legacy combines a solid story with the right amount of action and drama that blends to form one entertaining film”.
However, some viewers felt the film could have intensified its action sequences. A reviewer mentioned: “My only real gripe, which isn’t much, is the lack of action”.
But Luke Goss’s portrayal of Agent Gray has been particularly lauded. Another fan remarked: “Legacy isn’t the most action packed movie, but it could be one of Luke Goss’ finest hours. Fans of The Goss Man should definitely give it a go.”
At its core, Legacy goes well into themes of family, survival, and redemption. The relationship between Gray and Jake serves as the emotional anchor of the film, highlighting the lengths to which one will go to protect loved ones.
Directed by R. Ellis Frazier, the film also explores the moral complexities faced by individuals in positions of power, as the characters navigate the line between duty and personal convictions.
Legacy (2020) is now available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video platform.
