Your washing machine and kitchen will smell ‘beautiful’ with 99p item

Homeowners are urging people struggling with bad odour coming from their washing machines to try a 99p solution from a popular budget store. Taking to Facebook and posting on Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, a woman called Caroline shared all the benefits she’s enjoyed after using Home Bargains’ 99p Fabulosa washing machine cleaner.

She says not only has the low-cost product made her washing machine smell ‘beautiful’, but also the rest of her kitchen. She told fellow group members that she had been trying ‘everything’ to no avail before finding success with the 99p cleaner.

“Smelly washing machine?” She began. “Tried all sorts for mine, bleach, Dr beckett washing machine cleaner, white vinegar, soda crystals etc.

“Nothing got rid of the smell. Bought Fabulosa (unicorn fragrance) washing machine cleaner and it worked! It’s only 99p from home bargains and you don’t even need to use the whole bottle, just 125ml.”

Explaining how she used the product, she said: “Put it into the detergent drawer and put machine onto a short hot wash. While the machine was on the kitchen smelled beautifully, now there’s a very slight fragrance coming from the drum but no bad smell. Just in case this helps someone!”

The post became an instant hit with fellow group members who were keen to try the 99p product out for themselves. One person replied: “Thank you I will try it.” Another put: “I always use this I buy the linen one.”

A third claimed: “I used this yesterday I think it’s brilliant even the black on the rubber came off with a quick rub.” A fourth put: “My favourite, now I tried Babe Blush wow amazing smell.” Another simply said: “Great stuff.”

There are many different scents to choose from that are part of Fabulosa’s line-up of washing machine cleaners. You can usually find a large array of them in budget homeware stores like Home Bargains and B&M.

The scent Caroline says she used is ‘Unicorn Dust’. This scent option is described as a “soft powdery parma violet fragrance with supporting notes of rose and lily resting on a base of soft woods and musk”.

To use the product, which comes in a 250ml bottle, the instructions are as follows: remove the lid and pour 125ml of the product into the soap dispenser. Next, run the machine on a short hot cycle. You can repeat if necessary.

It should only be used in washing machine soap dispensers. For older machines consult with your local machine engineer to confirm suitability.

Fabulosa says its washing machine cleaner provides a “cost-effective way to keep your washing machine clean, hygienic, and free from bad odours”. It adds: “This advanced cleaning solution eliminates 99.9% of bacteria and viruses*, creates lasting freshness, and leaves your machine smelling like Unicorn Dust.”

The brand also claims: “Using Fabulosa Washing Machine Cleaner helps prolong the lifespan of your washing machine by penetrating deep into the drum to remove limescale and ensure a thorough cleaning experience.” A single bottle is said to contain enough liquid for two uses.

The product is certified as cruelty-free and suitable for vegans. It is also manufactured and packaged in the UK. It is proven to kill bacteria, including coronavirus, E.coli, S. aureus, Listeria, Campylobacter, MRSA, Salmonella, Influenza Type A H1N1.
