A tiny kitten has been captured in an adorable video trying to play with pigeons in the middle of the pavement. The kitten can be seen running in circles, jumping high in the air, trying to catch the birds.
The video attracted 75k views on platform X, and a herd of users commented underneath it, liked, and shared the content. One user commented: ”Omg, it’s so cute the way it jumps.” Another was not so amused by the video, adding, ”I wish the little birds all the luck in the world. Cats kill more birds than any other species.”
Another added: ”It’s so cute the way it’s trying to MURDER the pigeons.”
The video has quickly gained a lot of popularity, with the number of shared views almost reaching a staggering 100k.
Blog The Wandering Voice shared in an article that kittens chase pigeons due to their innate predatory instincts. Cats are natural hunters, and even well-fed kittens will engage in hunting behavior as it helps with their development and provides a source of enjoyment. This instinct is often triggered by the sight, sound, or movement of a bird, such as a pigeon.
It is no surprise that the video shows the kitten trying to chase one pigeon and then trying to chase after the rest, feeling that it has marked its territory and trying to own the pavement by itself.
Under the video, a user commented, ”good training session,” implying that the kitten’s behaviour is normal despite other users having mixed views. One user with the name @DreadPigeons Robert added: “Regardless of how cute this little monster is, predation against my species must end”
With another adding: “so cute”
It’s clear that, because of its size and fun nature, this would not have been taken as seriously as an adult cat chasing pigeons, where they can possibly do a lot more harm than good, but this video shows the beginning stages of a small kitten finding its feet and embracing its hunter instinct.
