According to astrologer Joanne Jones your star sign could be influencing just how well you sleep at night. Our zodiacs reflect personality traits that shape how we think, process emotions, and unwind at the end of the day – all of which can play a major role in the quality of our sleep.
Joanne, the founder of Trusted Psychics, explains: “Some signs thrive on routine, others resist it. Some find peace in quiet, while others get a rush of ideas at bedtime. Understanding these tendencies can help us create personalised sleep habits that truly work.” With this in mind, she has shared the perfect bedtime routine for each star sign that will help you get your eight hours of sleep.
Aries (March 21 – April 19)
“Aries have intense energy and ambition, often making it difficult to switch off,” says Joanne.
To prevent this from impacting your sleep, she suggests scheduling an hour to start winding down before bed, when you can do some relaxing activities such as reading, stretching, or guided breathing. Aries may also find that having a “sleep goal” will appeal to their competitive side.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Those with a Taurus star sign typically value routine, comfort, and indulgence, meaning their sleep will improve in calm, cosy environments with soft bedding, low lighting, and familiar scents.
If struggling, Joanne suggests investing in some high-quality sleep accessories, such as herbal teas and aromatherapy. A consistent bedtime routine can also appeal to a Taurus, helping them feel safe and soothed before sleep.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Geminis are naturally curious and mentally active, which often keeps their minds whirring well into the night. To counter this, try journaling or “brain dumping” before bed.
It could also be worth having a screen ban in place for the hour before bed, instead opting for some light reading or a calming podcast rather than scrolling through social media.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
When it comes to Cancer signs, Joanne said: “They are emotionally intuitive and can be affected by moods, lunar cycles, and their surroundings. They need a sense of security and comfort to rest well.”
She recommends creating a peaceful, personal sleep sanctuary with calming music, gentle yoga, and dim lighting, all of which can help ease any emotional tension.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Leos are known for being particularly vibrant and social, meaning they can sometimes sacrifice sleep for fun productivity.
However, they also enjoy spaces that feel indulgent and expressive, and this can be incorporated into a sleep routine. Joanne recommends: “Make bedtime a self-care ritual. Think skincare, mood lighting, and luxurious sheets. Leos benefit from sleep routines that feel rewarding and stylish.”
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Analytica Virgo can often find themselves overthinking at night, which can have a rather negative impact on sleep. To improve sleep quality, it might be worth instituting a consistent sleep and wake time.
Virgos may also benefit from tracking their sleep data for self-improvement.
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
“Libras love harmony and aesthetic calm. They’re prone to sleep disruption when relationship tensions or unresolved stress linger,” says Joanne.
She recommends incorporating soothing scents (like chamomile or rose), silk bedding, and guided meditations into your bedtime routine.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
Scorpios are known for their emotional intensity and are often night owls, too. They may struggle to wind down at night making it rather difficult to fall asleep.
For the intense Scorpio, the astrology expert suggests journaling before bed. Scorpios may also benefit from investing in blackout curtains to create a dark and distraction-free space.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
“Sagittarians are spontaneous and high-energy, which can make sleep feel restrictive,” says Joanne: “They often stay up late when inspired or distracted.”
Contrary to other signs, it’s a flexible routine that works better for those with a Sagittarius star sign, and the expert suggests having a wind-down window of time rather than a strict bedtime.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Ambitious Capricorns may find themselves working late or being distracted when trying to sleep at night. For this, Joanne suggests keeping your bedroom clutter-free, as this aids in relaxation.
She adds that an evening routine, including gentle stretches or reading, can help you transition from work to relaxation.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Creative and independent Aquarians may often be stimulated by late-night thoughts and, therefore, reflect any conventional bedtime routines. For these creative souls, a tech-free hour before bed is a necessity.
They may also want to keep a notepad on their bedside table to jot down any nighttime ideas.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
Joanne says: “Pisces are empathetic and intuitive, often affected by emotional energy around them. Sleep can be disrupted by vivid dreams or lingering stress.”
To counter this, then try creating a dreamy, serene environment with soft textures and calming sounds. Similarly, guided meditation and/or aromatherapy can help clear the mind of any emotional stress before bed.
