Dog trainer admits there’s 3 dog breeds she’d ‘never own’

The owners also need to be smart enough to outwit “a dog whose escapology skills outdo Houdini’s”.

Another dog breed Carolyn wouldn’t be taking home is the “giant” Anatolian Shepherd Dog.

The dog trainer said these dogs are bred to “to live out with sheep all year round” to protect the herd from wolves.

“While pretty quiet and laid back, this is a big, powerful dog who will make their own decisions on who they consider friend and foe,” Carolyn warned. “If they don’t know you, you will be very firmly in the latter category.”

And, most surprisingly, Carolyn is also not a fan of bringing home a Cockapoo – a beloved pet pooch in many British households.

“There are definite issues with having a dog who looks like a cute teddy bear but is crossed with a Cocker Spaniel, a hardy workaholic, bred to be on the go all day every day,” said Carolyn.

“It’s just as likely to produce an on-the-go all the time, a whirling dervish of a curly-haired beast, who needs endless exercise, and enrichment.”

Carolyn added: “To cap it all, in many cases, their coat is a nightmare to look after, matts if you even look at it, and they often aren’t thrilled with being overhandled.”
