
TV fans searching for their next binge-watch this summer are in for a treat with Amazon Prime Video’s extensive selection.
The platform is brimming with an array of genres, from the supernatural to romance, drama, and thrillers.
For those days when the British weather inevitably turns dreary, there’s no shortage of TV series to dive into.
TikTok user Annelise has taken to the platform to share her personal recommendations. In her video, she declares: “These are some of my favourite binge-worthy TV shows to watch this summer on Prime Video.
“So, this is a list of what I’m subscribing to this summer to get ready to watch my favourite summer shows.” Annelise then divulges her must-watch list for Prime Video.
1. The Summer I Turned Pretty
A romantic series spanning three seasons, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows Belly Conklin as she navigates a love triangle involving two brothers, experiencing her first love and heartbreak during the perfect summer. The cast includes Lola Tung as Belly, Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah, Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher, and Rain Spencer as Taylor Jewel.
2. We Were Liars
Next up on Annelise’s summer viewing roster is We Were Liars, a gripping American psychological thriller series adapted from E. Lockhart’s novel. The show premiered on on June 18, 2025 and revolves around Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her tight-knit circle of friends, known as the Liars, who spend their summers on a private island shrouded in secrecy.
After a baffling incident, Cadence finds herself grappling with amnesia and must piece together the reality of what occurred, aided by her friends who are concealing their own secrets. The series features Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair, and Caitlin Fitzgerald as Penny Sinclair.
3. School Spirits
Annelise has highlighted that there are “so many amazing TV shows you can watch with a subscription on Prime Video”, including School Spirits. She noted that it’s currently available on Paramount Plus, which she accessed through a free trial via the Prime Video app.
The television enthusiast remarked: “It’s basically about this girl stuck in the afterlife and all the other spirits stuck in the school with her. I watched this TV show with my sisters and we had so much fun.”
Starring in School Spirits are Peyton List as Maddie Nears, Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Milo Manheim as Wally Clark, and Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter.
4. Sanditon
Annelise went on to say: “Then we have Sanditon which you can watch through the PBS subscription. This is based off [of] a Jane Austen novel, it’s a period drama.
“It’s basically about this girl who moves to this small seaside town for a fresh start and I think this show is perfect for all the romance book girlies.” Featuring in the main cast of Sanditon are Rose Williams as Charlotte Heywood, Crystal Clarke as Georgiana Lambe, Kris Marshall as Tom Parker, and Anne Reid as Lady Denham.
5. True Blood
Annelise recommends True Blood, currently streaming on Max, for supernatural drama fans. The series centres around Sookie Stackhouse, a mind-reading barmaid in Louisiana, whose life takes a turn when vampires decide to step into the limelight.
Annelise enthused: “If you’re a fan of supernatural TV shows I think you’ll love this one.” The show features Anna Paquin as Sookie, with Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton, Sam Trammell as Sam Merlotte, and Rutina Wesley as Tara Thornton lighting up the screen.
6. Landman
Next up, Annelise suggests giving Landman a go, which is available through Paramount Plus subscription. She delved into the storyline: “This show takes place deep in the heart of west Texas and it’s all about these billionaires who are working to get even more rich through oil.”
She added: “If you’re a fan of Yellowstone or 1883 I think you’ll really like this TV show as well.” Landman boasts a cast including Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, Michelle Randolph as Aynsley Norris, Ali Carter as Angela, and Kayla Wallace as Rebecca Falcone.
7. The Buccaneers
Finally, Annelise raved about The Buccaneers, her latest fixation. She shared: “This is a more recent obsession for me but I absolutely love this show so much.
“If you like romance, girlhood, friendship this is like the perfect watch and also season 2 just dropped.” The Buccaneers focuses on five affluent and ambitious American women as they navigate London’s high society, grappling with cultural disparities, contrasting views on tradition, and the complexities of friendship and love.
It features Kristine Froseth as Annabel ‘Nan’ St George, Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth and Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St George.
