Adding 65p ingredient to mattress banishes sweaty odours in minutes

Cleaning our homes can be quite the upkeep and time consuming in between our busy lives of work, education, socialising, family, and more. But quick, easy methods can help keep your home clean and tidy. Cory Rodriguez, a health and wellness content creator who focuses on eating natural foods and using natural products, has shared how to clean different spots in your home using just one product – and it won’t cost you a fortune.

Cory, who boasts over three million Instagram followers, insists that you do not need to go out and buy loads of different cleaning products. Not only is it expense we could do without as cost of living is high, but you could be bringing in a lot of chemicals to your home.

Cory swears by baking soda – or bicarbonate of soda – for cleaning his matress, washing his pots, and cleaning his fruit. The best part is that baking soda is cheap to buy. You can buy it from The Range for £1.49. You can also pick up a large bottle from Amazong for £3.88. Tesco are selling a 200g tube of bicarbonate of soda for 65p.

In a video, on his page @healthwithcory, Corey has shared why he uses this product – and how it works.

Cory shared: “If you add baking soda to a bowl of fruit and let it sit for 10 minutes then it will help to clean and remove contaminants from your food.” The baking soda can help remove pesticides and other residues. A study conducted in 2017 found that submerging apples in a baking soda solution for two minutes removed more pesticides than a 2-minute soak in a bleach solution or a rinse under running tap water, according to Consumer Reports.

Health With Cory added that baking soda can also help with cleaning your mattress. He shared: “If you sprinkle baking soda on your mattress and leave it for several hours it can help absorb bad odours and moisture that you would otherwise be sleeping in.”

Not only is the baking soda a natural, non-toxic product, it helps remove stains from the fabric on your mattress without damaging it. After letting the baking soda soak for hours, vacuum it up. You can also add a few drops of essential oils to the baking soda so it leaves a pleasant, sleep-friendly scent.

Cory also shared that baking soda has a third, effective role in the household – it can help get those pesky stains off your pots and pans.

Cory commented: “If you sprinkle baking soda on your dirty pots and pans and let it sit for 15 minutes, then you could scrub with warm water and the food and gunk will start to come off.”

Commenting on Cory’s advice video, one individual said: “Baking soda or bicarbonate of soda as we say in the UK, is the best thing invented for over 100 years!”

“Yes, I love these uses for baking soda,” added another. “Thanks for all the hints to keep house clean,” added one other.
