Lloyds becomes first bank to introduce £300 rule this August | Personal Finance | Finance

Lloyds Bank customers will soon be able to pay cash into their accounts while picking up everyday essentials, thanks to a new app feature launching later this month.

From August 26, customers will be able to generate a barcode in the Lloyds mobile app, which can be scanned at over 30,000 PayPoint stores nationwide to deposit notes or coins. The service allows daily deposits of up to £300, with a £600 monthly limit, and barcodes valid for two hours. Gabby Collins, payments director at Lloyds, said: “We’re always looking for smart ways to make banking more flexible and give customers more choice.

“Our latest app feature now allows customers to pay in cash at their local PayPoint in just a few minutes – ideal if they are popping in for milk or dropping off a parcel.”

With most PayPoint outlets open seven days a week, and 99.5% of people living within a mile of one, the feature aims to bring banking into the heart of local communities, from high street shops to petrol stations.

It adds to Lloyds’ existing deposit options at branches, Post Offices, banking hubs and cash machines, giving customers more choice in how and where they manage their money.

Nick Wiles, CEO, PayPoint, said: “Our leading retail network provides a vast range of essential services at the heart of communities across the UK, for everything from banking, utility, parcel, cash and Government services.

“The ability of Lloyds customers to make cash deposits into their accounts at over 30,000 PayPoint locations will deliver more convenience and access for customers close to where they live.”
