Sweet dog dumped on street and ‘left for dead’ desperately needs new owner | UK | News

She loves spending time around humans – but sadly, they’ve only shown her hurt throughout her lifetime. Poor Loka, a black retriever, was  dumped on the street by her owners when they grew tired of her – and was left to fend for herself. The six-year-old pooch was “close to death” when rescue workers came across her in Egypt and had to undergo months of recovery to get her back to normal again.

She was taken in by Miracle’s Mission – and is now hoping someone in the UK will have a space for her in their home and hearts. A statement reads: “Loka was abandoned on the streets when her family no longer wanted her. Having been a pet she did not cope well and could not fend for herself.

“She became emaciated and infested with parasites. She was close to death and unable to stand but was rescued and has made a really good recovery regaining full mobility.

“Loka’s rescuer was forced to put Loka into a shelter because she could not find a home in Egypt where the numbers of unwanted retrievers are very high.

“Loka was later adopted by a family in Egypt where she lived with another smaller dog. They kept her for only around six months before deciding their circumstances did not allow for pets any longer so they wanted rid of both Loka and the other dog, through no fault of their own. People are so cruel.”

She has been described as a “sweet and very playful girl” who is great with people and humans. Now she needs to be rehomed to an “active owner” who already has a pet dog – and could live with cats after a “sensible introductions and careful management”.

The statement adds: “That is her main objective and love in life. She will need lots of walks and space to run around with like minded dogs.

“We would love to see Loka playing, running and being loved in a home in the UK. She would enjoy a big secure garden with other dogs. Loka also loves the water.”

Miracle’s Mission is a non-profile animal welfare organisation who work to rehome sick, injured and disabled animals worldwide.

A statement reads: “Our mission is to provide a place of safety for animals in danger, to educate on the needs of neutering both pets and strays and to neuter stray dogs and cats to prevent the birth of more animals onto the streets.

“We also rehabilitate and re-home dogs in need, often with disabilities, from our UK rescue base. We are a satellite rescue, we do not have operational kennels or our own rescue premises in the UK.”
