‘I’m a fashion expert and Princess Kate would be ‘mortified’ by this royal’ | Royal | News

It’s no secret that Princess Delphine of Belgium has an acquired taste in fashion, often stepping out in ensembles that turn heads but not always for all the right reasons. Her bold style has regularly been criticised as being too racy or unconventional for royal circles, especially when it involves thigh-high slits or daring silhouettes.

Princess Kate would no doubt have raised an eyebrow and been left mortified at the royal’s latest look. While attending the Belgian National Day parade on July 21, the 57-year-old caused a stir in an outfit widely branded as “inappropriate” by royal watchers.

Delphine’s red frock, adorned with studs and finished with a thigh-grazing split, reignited debate over what truly defines royal style in the modern age.

Her scarlet wardrobe staples have become synonymous with dignity and decorum, often paired with heirloom jewels worth tens of thousands, and sleek updos.

But while Kate leans into elegance Princess Delphine seems to be rewriting the royal fashion rulebook — and not everyone is convinced.

Taking to social media, one wrote: “Unfortunate and inappropriate, just to say the least.” A second wrote: “Raunchy and inelegant.”

A third added: “This is not an outfit a princess would wear for a national event.” While a fourth said: “When I saw the photos, OMG….it was so inappropriate.”

However, others disagreed with one Instagram user writing: “I’m deeply affected by bullying and violence against those who don’t fit the mould. This outfit stands for difference, freedom, and love. Viva la différence!”

Sitting on a gold throne at the event, the princess accessorised with playful heart-shaped sunglasses. The look was a dramatic departure from tradition — more racy runway than royal duty.

While Delphine has every right to express herself sartorially, it’s hard to imagine such a revealing outfit receiving the royal seal of approval at Buckingham Palace.

Princess Kate, a staunch advocate of modest elegance, would likely be left stunned or at the very least, politely tight-lipped.
