Skincare fans get £178 anti-ageing skincare kit for £36 at Debenhams

If you’re looking for a gentler alternative to anti-ageing wonder ingredient retinol, the best bakuchiol serums can help turn back time without you having to worry if they’re being too harsh on your skin.

Ideal for sensitive skin, bakuchiol helps decrease fine lines and wrinkles, boost skin’s elasticity and even skin tone, without any common side effects of retinol, such as irratation and redness.

Wondering where to start? Debenhams have reduced a London Botanical Laboratories skincare set that includes a backuchiol serum by a massive 80%. The kit was £178 but shoppers can get it for £35.99.

It provides the perfect opportunity to perhaps try a new skincare ingredient out without having to fork out hundreds of pounds.

The set contains a 50ml pot of Hyaluonic Acid Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream and a 30ml bottle of Bakuchiol Anti-Ageing Serum. If you were to buy these products individually in the Superdrug sale, the day cream would still set you back £39.99 and the serum £44.99.

That means by snapping up the Debenhams deal, you are essentially getting an entire product for free.

The serum is ‘gentle but effective’ using bakuchiol, a natural alternative to retinol derived from the Babchi plant. Promoting a youthful complexion, one user said it ‘improves skin texture’.

They went on to add: “The blend of Bakuchiol and CBD has visibly improved my skin’s texture and reduced the appearance of fine lines. This serum is now my go-to, and I can’t recommend it enough for a more youthful and radiant look.”

Someone else reviewing the products said they are a ‘great bargain’ and ‘not only does your skin feel amazing but smells amazing’.

While the effectiveness of the products isn’t a worry for customers, one person was not keen on the texture of the formula. After applying it to their skin, they said: “Feels like I have a face pack on it’s so tight and the cream doesn’t rub in easily.”

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, the highly-rated Medik8 Bakuchiol Peptides™ Retinol Alternative Peptide-Infused Serum is £55 for 30ml. Users say that it ‘improves fine lines and uneven tone’ and is ‘ideal for sensitive skin’ or anyone who is wary of using retinol.

For a cheaper alternative, Nivea’s Cellular Expert Face Serum with Pure 10x Bakuchiol is on sale for £13.99 down from £24.99 at Amazon. Customers have shared that it leaves their skin ‘looking fresh and bright’ but you have to be patient if you want to see ‘visible change’.
