NS&I Premium Bonds data shows UK region with most unclaimed prizes | Personal Finance | Finance

Premium Bonds customers have been urged to check if they have any prizes they need to collect as there are 2.5 million prizes waiting to be claimed.

There are a total of 2,516,285 unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes still waiting to be picked up by their rightful owners, worth a total of £93,830,100.

The area with the most unclaimed prizes is marked ‘Unknown/Overseas’, with 416,768 prizes unclaimed, worth a total of £17,633,900.

But of the regions within the UK, the area with the most prizes yet to be claimed is the South East, with 377,615 prizes, worth £13,548,675.

In second place is London, with 376,397, although this is the part of the UK with the biggest total amount unclaimed, with £14,186,950 still uncollected.

The big prize winners for the February prize draw were announced today (February 3), with both £1million jackpot winners from Yorkshire. Claiming the first top prize was a person from Kirklees, with winning Bond number 150EN423722. They purchased their winning Bond in January 2009 when they bought £5,000 worth of Bonds.

A saver from Sheffield took home the other jackpot prize, thanks to their winning Bond number 513EP525664. They purchased their lucky Bond in September 2022, when they bought £10,000 in Bonds.

There are currently 9,684 prizes unclaimed in Kirklees, worth a total of £348,250, while Sheffield has 6,668 prizes to collect, worth £248,450.

The prize fund rate is currently at 4%, having dropped twice in recent months, with the odds of each £1 Bond winning at 22,000 to one.

You can increase your chances of winning a prize by buying more Bonds, up to the maximum holding limit of £50,000. Many people set up their account so any winnings are automatically reinvested in buying more Bonds.
