A Toller dog attended her first ever ice hockey game and people loved her reaction.
Whiskey, from Washington D.C. USA, went to support the Washington Capitals, ‘Caps’, with her dog mum Amber Aquart. Dressed in a personalised Caps t-shirt with her name on it and two bows on her ears, the cute Toller watched the players on the ice go head to head in the game.
Sadly, Aqua said Whiskey thought everyone was at the game to see her and at first no one seemed to notice her but by the end of the match she was the star of the show and even made it on the big screen. Whiskey got to join the Caps Canines, the official dog club of the Washington Capitals.
Aqua posted a reel on Instagram showing Whiskey’s experience at the game. It begins with Whiskey watching the game in the arena on her own, looking back at her Aqua with a sad face.
At one point the Toller is sitting on a chair by herself with no one around her until the Caps mascot comes up to her with one of the Caps Canines Dogs. Quickly, she got lots of attention from other ice hockey fans at the game and many stopped to stroke her in the hallway at the end.
The end of the reel shows Whiskey sat next to her Caps Canine welcome pack and her own ice hockey stick. Aqua’s Instagram reel starring Whiskey has garnered 476,000 views, 29,000 likes and nearly 200 comments.
She captioned the post: “My dog thinks everyone was there for her…and I didn’t have the heart to tell her otherwise. Thanks to the Capitals we were able to make her feel as special as she is.”
The top comment on the post is: “Can confirm…we really are all here to see Whiskey. She’s not wrong.”
Another added: “They are all there to see her…they just don’t know it yet.” A third user said: “It was all about Whiskey. You had amazing fans in the stands!”
A woman whose husband attended the same game commented: “Funny thing, I asked my husband last night who he thought was a special guest at the Caps game. He instantly responded, “Whiskey?”
Further commenters said “she’s a showstopper”, “she truly is a star” and “she is definitely the star of the show.” Another dog parent shared how their pet also thinks people show up for him: “Mine thinks everyone who comes into the street comes to see him.He also expects the neighbours to come out of their house when he walks by.”
Whiskey is a task trained service dog who helps Aqua to mitigate her disabilities, along with her other service dog Oakley. The pair have supported Aqua on her outgoings and have even been on flights with her.
