It’s been eight years since Dan Brown published Origin, the fifth novel in his best-selling Robert Langdon series.
The novels about the Harvard symbologist, especially 2003’s The Da Vinci Code, have proven to be widely popular, selling over 120 million copies worldwide.
Tom Hanks starred as Langdon in three movies based on the thrillers and now the sixth novel has finally been announced today by the author himself.
Appearing on Good Morning America, Brown shared that the new book will be called The Secret of Secrets and will be published worldwide on September 9.
In a short clip, which you can watch above, the author explained why the new book has taken him so long to write.
Brown said: “I can now tell you that The Secret of Secrets is by far the most intricately plotted and ambitious book that I have ever written. And I happen to think that it’s the fun. I cannot wait to share it with you on September 9.” The author will be interviewed on the novel live on Good Morning America on publication day.
The novel begins in Prague with Langdon planning to see a lecture by Katherine Solomon, a scientist and love interest of his. That is until her talk turns into a murder scene, and she disappears. According to Doubleday publishers: “As the plot expands into London and New York, Langdon desperately searches for Katherine… and for answers. “In a thrilling race through the dual worlds of futuristic science and mystical lore, he uncovers a shocking truth about a secret project that will forever change the way we think about the human mind.”
In a statement, Brown added: “I happen to believe we are on the cusp of a major revolution in the way we think about our brains and our relationships to each other,” he said. “Cutting-edge science is now exploring advanced models of consciousness that seem poised to explain some of the mind’s deepest mysteries. I chose this topic because I find it irresistibly compelling, and also because it is relevant to every single one of us.”
Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets will be published on September 9, 2025.
