British tourists admit packing their air fryer on holiday for 1 reason

Brits are obsessed with one key item when travelling. Not SPF. Not a passport wallet. But an air fryer. According to new research, one in five respondents said they’ve taken the trendy cooking device away with them on holiday. Another one in five have removed clothes or toiletries just to make room in their case, while nearly a quarter of 25–34-year-olds admit to paying for extra baggage just to bring one abroad.

And with 27% of all Brits saying they’d take an air fryer on holiday if it were easier to transport, it’s clear the kitchen staple is becoming a packing priority, online electricals retailer AO reveals.

So why the air fryer? For many travellers, it’s an easy way to cook tasty meals without relying on unfamiliar appliances or splashing out on hotel restaurants and takeaways. And with 22% of Brits saying they miss their air fryer when they’re on holiday, it’s no wonder so many are packing them in their suitcases

Jamie, 29, from Manchester, is one such traveller. “My air fryer is an absolute essential part of my travels, and I struggle to go away without it,” he says.

“From France and Italy to the USA, and from plane to train, my air fryer has come with me everywhere to ensure I’m never far from a healthy, convenient, meal. It’s such a hack for me when going on holiday that I’ve even unpacked and repacked my entire car before a trip to ensure I had space to fit my air fryer in!”

AO’s research also revealed that almost one in five travellers admit that air fryer access influences where they stay, while one in seven say they would actively avoid accommodation without one.

Good news for the air fryer-obsessed survey respondents: electrical retailer AO has unveiled the Frequent Fryer suitcase – the first of its kind, designed specifically to hold and showcase a single-drawer air fryer.

The first-of-its-kind suitcase is crafted from brushed aluminium and finished with a transparent front panel moulded to a standard single drawer air fryer – handle and all.

It fits within airport luggage regulations, so whether it’s crisping croquetas in Barcelona, perfecting pomme frités in Paris or heating through a hot dog in the US, Brits’ favourite appliance can now be a trusty travel companion no matter the destination.
