John Travolta announces surprise new career move in comeback | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

John Travolta has dazzled millions of fans with his dance moves in film classics Grease and Saturday Night Fever, now wants to record an album then go on tour to promote it, according to his friends. They say he has been inspired to launch a music career after joining longtime pal Ringo Starr on stage last month at a gig near his home in Clearwater, Florida. Travolta drew huge cheers from the crowd as he and The Beatles drummer performed a version of the Fab Four’s hit With a Little Help from My Friends.

One of his closest friends said: “He had such a blast singing with Ringo and his band – and Ringo is encouraging him to turn his talents towards the music business. John has a great vocal range and sense of rhythm, and he can sing and dance at the same time. They added, “He and Ringo often get together privately to jam, feed each other lyrics and play off each other.”

Travolta has released several albums and singles – including You’re The One That I Want with Olivia Newton-John in 1978 – to help promote his earlier films.

His friend added: “He never imagined it as a full-time outlet for his abilities – until now.”

Travolta has kept a low profile since the death of his actress wife Kelly Preston five years ago from breast cancer.

At the time of her death, he shared a heartbreaking statement, saying: “It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.

“My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.

“I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT.”

In 1988 while filming The Experts, Travolta met actress Preston, whom he married in Paris in 1991. They had three children: Jett (1992–2009), Ella Bleu (born 2000), and Benjamin (born 2010). They regularly attended marriage counseling and Travolta has stated that therapy helped the marriage.
