Fans ‘love’ this newly-released fantasy epic that has a rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. How to Train Your Dragon’s live action movie was released earlier this month and follows on from the How to Train Your Dragon animated films, of which the last one was released in 2019.

The film’s synopsis reads: “On the rugged isle of Berk, a Viking boy named Hiccup defies centuries of tradition by befriending a dragon named Toothless. However, when an ancient threat emerges that endangers both species, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.”

The fourth How to Train Your Dragon film, directed by Dean DeBlois, stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, and Gerard Butler.

Fans of the franchise are raving about the film and have awarded it a near-perfect 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

One fan wrote in their review: “Phenomenal! Best action based movie to date!

“So realistic, made you feel like you were part of the entire story! Will watch this movie every week until its out of theatres.”

The critics rate the film at 78%, stating: “Crafted with loving fidelity to the animated classic by original co-director Dean DeBlois, How to Train Your Dragon doesn’t best the first iteration but still reaches enchanting heights of its own.”

A top critic’s review said: “It may be completely unnecessary, but this live action remake is still a great story. The story is heartwarming, the visuals are exciting, and the themes of courage used for a deeper understanding are still worthy.”

The film’s IMDb rating is sitting at 8.1/10 at the time of writing, with one user saying they “loved” it, adding: “I just got out of the early screening and I feel so happy.

“This live-action adaptation is honestly EVERYTHING a fan could hope for – true to the spirit, respectful of the story, and with every character treated with the care they deserve.”

How to Train Your Dragon is out in cinemas now.
