Next James Bond casting announcement timeline revealed | Films | Entertainment

It’s been four years since Daniel Craig exploded himself out of the James Bond film franchise at the end of No Time To Die.

Since then, EON Productions has sold creative control in a near $1 billion deal to Amazon MGM Studios.

Now Hollywood producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are in charge of the 007 franchise and have been hearing pitches from directors at the latter’s London home.

At least five major filmmakers are in talks, and it sounds like the new Bond bosses are following the Broccoli family’s method of rebooting 007.

In the past, EON Productions would get the director and script sorted around the type of incarnation of Ian Fleming’s spy they’re going for this time (grittier or lighter?) and only then do they set about casting the next Bond.

Now Hollywood scooper Matthew Belloni has confirmed that the Bond producers plan to hire the next 007 director his summer, then get the script written, and only then cast the next Bond. Apparently, casting ideas of potential actors for the coveted role are likely coming up in the directors’ pitches. With all this in mind, it doesn’t sound like we’ll get a Bond 26 announcement until at least late 2025. However, we’d expect shooting to definitely take place next year for a 2027 release.
