Skincare expert Caroline Hirons has a new product that is bound to benefit combination, oily skin during the warm weather days to come. Her own beauty brand, Skin Rocks, recently launched The Light Moisturiser, a gel cream for the face with a weightless texture.
The green tub cream is dubbed “light as air” with barrier-supporting benefits and long-term hydration and it is retailed at £58, which is the same price as the brand’s much-loved The Moisturiser. Ideal for combination, oily or blemish-prone skin types, The Light Moisturiser is clinically proven to increase hydration by up to 141% after one hour based on an independent clinical study of 52 participants.
A daily use of the cream for four weeks help reduced red spots by up to 51% after one week and increased skin elasticity by up to 53% after four weeks. With a significant portion of the UK population experiencing a vitamin D deficiency, the cream is also formulated pro-vitamin D3 to boost vitamin D production, supporting long-term skin health and promotion optimal barrier function.
On top of that, a “desert succulent stem cell active” is added to maxmise water retention and plump skin by aiding the absorption of water and the production of vitamin D.
While reviews are all positive, those who look to reduce signs of ageing and wrinkles have only mentioned improvement in hydration without any greasy shine. Skincare buffs with sensitive or stubborn skins can try Paula’s Choice Pro-Collagen Peptide Plumping Moisturiser, £49, or The Outset Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturiser (£35.20 on Cult Beauty).
A woman on her four-week trial shared: “I’d assume I’d need something richer for my 47-year-old skin but this proved me wrong. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had a lot on – events, travel, more air conditioning than usual and a few drinks – but my skin has stayed hydrated and healthy without needing any extra products.”
Another called it a “holy grail for combo or oily skin” and explained: “I’ve got combination skin and usually apply moisturiser sparingly as I’m worried about breaking out. This moisturiser is a gel-cream texture (similar to Elemis pro-collagen marine cream) and it feels cooling when applied. It absorbs instantly and leaves skin feeling plump and smooth. The fragrance is light and not over powering. Perfect.”
