Some people say luck results from planetary alignments, while others believe it results from a person’s actions or psychological state.

Luck is a significant concept in Chinese astrology, with different eastern zodiac signs considered more or less fortunate depending on the year.

The idea of “good fortune” is deeply ingrained in Chinese culture and is often associated with specific animal signs, such as the Dragon and Pig, which are seen as particularly lucky.

Sharing her insights with YourTango, astrologer and tarot reader Valeria Black said: “February 2025 is influenced by this month’s I Ching hexagram of luck, Thunder over Thunder, changing to Thunder over Fire. This is a reminder that effort never goes to waste if one strives with the full might of their intelligence and all their talents.”

Valeria named the “luckiest day” for each animal sign in the Chinese zodiac. When is yours?

Snake

It is fitting for this animal sign to be lucky this month, considering it is the Year of the Snake, but one day stands out. Intelligence plays a big part on February 15, the “luckiest day” for those born in Snake years (1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001).

Valeria suggests leaning into curiosity and looking out for red and gold, which are lucky charms this month, as are tiger lily flowers.

Rat

Green and gold are deemed lucky for the Rat in February, particularly on Wednesday, February 19. Valeria noted that silk is also an “auspicious” fabric for those born in Rat years (1948, 160, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008).

Being lucky on February 19 comes from doing your best at work and in hobbies – the rest is down to “cosmic currents”, said the astrologer.

Ox

Valeria warned the Ox: “Your luck in February will change your destiny trajectory.” She suggested that those born in Ox years (1949, 1969, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009) should remain grounded and make sound decisions aligned with their identity.

Communication is key this month and plays a big part in making breakthroughs, particularly on the luckiest day, February 22. Red is a lucky colour in February, as are marigold flowers.

Tiger

Luck for the Tiger is less obvious and works “behind the scenes” this month. Valeria said that it is all for future benefit, so those born in Tiger years (1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010) should not worry about external appearances.

February is strong for internal growth through hobbies, and February 23 is the “luckiest day”. The astrologer suggested making time for what you love as you will find luck through those efforts.

Rabbit

Valeria reminded those linked to the Rabbit animal sign that luck isn’t always linked to material gains. Breaking a bad habit more easily than expected is just as significant.

She warned those linked to the Rabbit years (1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011) to mark their diaries for February 19 and to be mindful and cautious as they move through life. Non-material luck can be life-changing, but often, it’s for the best.

Dragon

Valeria said February 18 is the luckiest day for Dragons this month, and it will come after a slow start. “You’re headed for a significant glow-up,” she said.

Life will improve, but it’s important to remember your true friends and unlock intuition through creativity. The astrologer warned that if those born in Dragon years (1952, 1964, 1976, 1988 and 2000) start seeing the colour red a lot, it should be taken as a sign from the universe that everything is on track.

Horse

According to the astrologer, luck for the Horse in February will appear between the mundane and the fantastical. She noted that February 19 is the month’s luckiest day, and Valeria suggested that the puzzle pieces will come together soon, almost like a cosmic cypher.

People born in 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, and 2002 are linked to the Horse zodiac sign.

Goat

Windfall is on the cards for those born in years of the Goat (1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003) and may emerge in the financial space. Valeria warned against hoping for a big win, like the lottery, but to focus on smaller rewards when the luckiest day arrives on February 23.

She said you may find luck funding important dreams or expanding a business venture. “Even seemingly regular life moments end up being incredibly lucky and help you gain the respect of your community and develop a legacy,” said the astrologer.

Monkey

Those linked to the Monkey animal sign may have an idea that feels a bit rootless right now, but by the end of the month, they will have exactly what is needed to turn it into something brilliant. Valeria said: “Your luck this month comes in the form of inspiration or the assistance you need to turn ephemeral potential into something extraordinary.”

February 25 is deemed the most prosperous day for those born in the Monkey years (1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004). Valeria said journalling about poignant moments may stimulate future wisdom.

Rooster

February 27 marks the luckiest day for the Rooster, and it’s “all about the power of expanding your mind”, perhaps learning a language. Valeria suggested investing in resources that help you do just that.

The astrologer said that the energy of February could lead to significant progress in learning ventures for those born in the Rooster years (1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005).

Dog

Valeria said: “Dog, trust your heart and go all in… the universe will have your back, no matter what.” The astrologer suggested investing in subjects that intrigue your mind or add to your knowledge base will boost your future luck.

Those born in Dog years (1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006) should mark February 28 in their diary.

Pig

This animal sign is considered one of the luckiest in the Chinese zodiac, and the astrologer said that February is no different. She hinted that signs and symbols such as feathers on your path and flowers randomly falling on your head are not insignificant, especially on February 15.

Valeria said those born in the Year of the Pig (1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007) should trust their ephemeral whispers, adding: “Note these instances when they occur and research their meanings to uncover where your luck resides.”
