Simple booking method could ensure ‘nobody sits next to you’ on plane | Travel News | Travel

As much as we all love jetting off into the sun, it’s no secret that travel can be stressful.

From the packing to the queues to the potential delays, there’s always things that worry us. Another thing that makes the experience a little more dull is the thought of being squashed into a tiny seat for a long time.

But, according to some travel experts, it may be able to become a thing of the best. According to TikTok’s @skyscanner, there may be a trick to ensuring you always bag a seat alone on a plane.

In the clip, the content creators said: “One of the best things about flying is when the seat beside you ends up being free and today we’re testing a travel hack that gives you the best chance of that happening. So this hack works on planes that have rows of three.

“What you do is you hop online and you pre-book the window and the aisle seat, leaving the middle seat free. No one’s going to pre-book a middle seat and, even if they do, we simply ask them to swap and we still get to sit next to each other.”

They deicded to try out if the hack works, and the results were impressive. They tested the trick on two separate flights and, on the first journey, they admitted they got “super lucky”, as it worked.

The pair managed to have the row to themselves, which gave them extra leg room. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the same luck on the second flight, but they did manage to still sit next to each other.

They admitted the outcome of the hack can be 50/50, but they seemed to think it was worth giving a go. But, if it doesn’t work, they said the worst case scenario is you end up sitting next to someone you’re travelling with.

Since it was shared, the video has been viewed over 9,000 times, and several people commented too. They had all sorts of thoughts on the idea.

One person said: “I did this and there were three empty rows behind us, and someone still booked the seat between us.” Another wrote: “I would sit in the middle to annoy them.”

Some people spoke of success though, with one replying: “I always do that.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “I like this because the worst case is the middle person doesn’t want to switch, and you are still close together.”

However, among the discussion, some people said they didn’t think it would always work, while others thought it could be seen as inconsiderate. It was also suggested that some airlines don’t allow you to do it.

None the less, lots of influencers have been trying it out online, and some have experienced success. The trick has worked for many people.
